Download PostHog Desktop
Contents
Download PostHog Desktop, sign in with your PostHog account, and choose a repository.
PostHog Desktop is not open to new PostHog accounts right now. If you created your PostHog account on or after October 1, 2026, the app shows a Desktop sign-ups are paused screen after you sign in. The rest of PostHog still works for your account, including the web app, PostHog AI, Slack, and MCP. Join the waitlist and we will email you when you can use PostHog Desktop.
See eligibility for the full list of limits.
All platforms
Releases include macOS builds for Apple Silicon and Intel, a Windows installer, and Linux AppImage, .deb, and .rpm packages.
Eligibility
Anyone can download the app and sign in. To use it, all of these must be true:
- You created your PostHog account before October 1, 2026. New sign-ups are paused. The date of your own account counts, not the date of your organization, so a teammate who joins an older organization today is also paused. Newer accounts can join the waitlist.
- Your organization is not in the PostHog Startup or YC program.
- Your organization has no pending or active prepaid credits. To discuss access, contact your PostHog account executive. If you don't have one, email sales@posthog.com.
If one of these is not true, the app shows a notice after you sign in, and you cannot start tasks. The notice lets you switch to another organization or project, which can help with the Startup, YC, and prepaid credits limits.
These limits apply only to PostHog Desktop. The rest of PostHog works as normal, including the web app, PostHog AI, Slack, and MCP.
PostHog Desktop usage consumes AI credits from your PostHog organization. See pricing for current rates and the monthly free tier.
Updates
On macOS and Windows, PostHog Desktop checks for updates at startup. Automatic downloads are on by default, and updates install the next time you quit. Turn off automatic downloads or select Check now in Settings > General when you want to control the timing.
Linux does not update automatically. Download a new package from the releases page when you want to update.
PostHog Desktop can require an update when an older build is no longer safe or reliable. Other updates install in the background or appear as dismissible notices.
See what changed in each build on the release notes.
